Richard L. Hult
- Richard L. Hult
Richard L. Hult, 81, of Galt lost his year long battle with cancer on Feb. 3, 2008. He passed peacefully at his home with family at his side. Richard was born on July 19, 926 in Beresford, S.D.
His family later moved to Potter County, S.D., where he attended country grammar school and Gettysburg High School in Gettysburg, S.D. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was in the reserves when called back into duty in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. After leaving the military, Richard went to work at McClellan Air Force Base and started a career that lasted 39 years. He was first employed as aircraft mechanic and the last 20 years as aircraft inspector.
Richard had a great passion for music. He loved to get together with his musician friends and play the guitar. He was an honorary member of California State Old Time Fiddlers District 5, Sacramento Western Swing Society, California Bluegrass Association, Galt Area Historical Society, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 988, and the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 364.
Richard had a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins with whom he kept in contact through the years. Everyone he met was a friend for life. Family and friends will dearly miss his kind, patient, gentle personality.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sue Dean Hult of Galt; stepchildren, DeAnna Nevins-Dean of Galt, Dennis Dean of Lodi, Rick Dean of Sacramento; sisters, Shirley (Don) Kunstle of Gettysburg, S.D., Millie Bond of Leavenworth, Wash.; and seven grandchildren, Greg and Steve Shuman, Christina (Jeremy) Malhaffey, and Trent, Morgan, Lexi and Timmy Dean.
His parents, Fred and Laurie Hult of Lebanon, S.D., preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 653 A Street in Galt with Pastor Rob Patterson officiating. Committal will be private.
A reception will be held at the Littleton Center following the service.

Dorothy M. Rosanbalm
Dorothy Mae Rosanbalm, 82, passed away peacefully on Feb. 5, 2008. She was born Dorothy Mae Freeman on July 4, 1925 in Hiwassi, Ark.
She grew up in Columbus, Kansas, then moved west to San Diego. She then went to work for the war effort at Rhor Aircraft and there she met and later married her husband of 50 years, William Albert Rosanbalm, who preceded her in death in 1993. She spent her life as a homemaker and loved family picnics, sewing, home decorating, refinishing furniture, and was an excellent cook. In their senior years, they enjoyed full time RV trips around the country and visiting with old friends and family.
Surviving are her brother, Don Freeman of Hemet; son, Dale Rosanbalm of Galt; and three daughters, Sherry Setera and Susan Sanford of Chico, and Rhonda Anderson of San Andreas.
Graveside services were held in Chico on Feb. 9.

Glenn M. Carlson
Glenn Michael Carlson, 66, a long-time resident of Herald, passed away in Lodi on Feb. 5, 2008. He was born in Chicago, Ill., to Roy and Marion Carlson on Sept. 11, 1941.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. On March 1, 1969, he married Barbara Jean Halen in Pomona. He moved to this area in 1975.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for telephone service companies in repair and installation for 38 years. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. He fulfilled his dream of being a rancher and farmer when he moved to Herald to raise livestock. He enjoyed trips to Reno, Las Vegas and Disneyland. He was passionate about the Chicago Bears.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Carlson of Herald; three children, Mike (Dottie) Carlson of Herald, Christopher (Joyce) Carlson of Sacramento and Tammy Sego of Missouri; nine grandchildren, Maria, Glenn, Maggie, Nick, Jacob, Annika, Justine, Hazel and William; brother, Rick (Sharon) Carlson of San Jose; sister, Linnea (Roy) Bei of Elk Grove; two stepsisters, Pat Maddock of Elk Grove and Joyce (Denny) Sykes of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Carlson; mother, Marion Carlson; and stepmother, Chris Carlson.
A chapel service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at Lodi Funeral Home chapel.
Committal will follow at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.

Alice L. Clark
Alice Laura Clark, 75, died Feb. 5, 2008 in Gardnerville, Nev., following a long illness. She was born in Du Quoin, Ill., on May 2, 1932, the first daughter of Jonathan F. Bennett and Z. Marie O’Dell.
With her parents and older brother Edward, she moved to Michigan’s upper peninsula, where the family homesteaded 8u0 acres of woodland. Alice went to school in Michigan and Chicago, where the family lived during World War II. Returning to Michigan, she married Glen Darrow, moved to Detroit, an d worked for Michigan Bell Telephone. The couple had one daughter, Diane. Later, Alice married Don DuBlanc, moved to California, and worked for the State of California. They had one son, Donald Paul DuBlanc. The senior DuBlanc died and Alice married Gerald (Jerry) Clark in Sacramento, and moved to Herald where they raised horses and pheasants. After she retired from state service, Jerry died and she moved to Nevada.
Alice was active in community service, held office in Herald Community Club, and supported Neighborhood Watch, Arcohe School and Galt High School events. She enjoyed skiing when she was young, loved cats and horses, hunting, fishing and camping with her family, attending Bluegrass and Cowboy Poetry Festivals, and Mule Days. Next to her ranch home, the Sierra Nevada Mountains were her favorite place. She called it “The High Country.” A great organizer, she often arranged camping trips for family and friends.
She leaves her son, Donald DuBlanc (wife Gail) and grandsons, Brian DuBlanc of Wellington, Nev., and Michael DuBlanc of Monterey; daughter, Diane Neasz (husband Ken), two grandsons, Steve and Sean Maxey, four great-granddaughters, all of Michigan; and brother, David Bennett (wife Susan); sister, Jean Hess (husband John), all of Herald; nephews, Jeffery Hess (wife Kristen) and Jason Hess, all of Sacramento; nieces, Joan Angela Hess of Sherman Oaks, Jennifer Hess-Pearson (husband John) with three grand nieces; niece-in-law Lisa Hess, grand nephews, Ben Hess, Andrew Hess, Chris Rogers-Hess and Richard Herbiceck (wife Heather), with two great-grand nieces, all of southern California; grand niece Jennifer Corntassel (husband Adam) with one great-grand niece, all attached to the U.S. Navy; three nieces, Mickey, Melody and Marla Edwards of Oregon; and step-nephews Dan and Eugene Arters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older brother and sister, two younger brothers, two nephews and three husbands.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at Deneri’s Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will follow at Sunset View Cemetery, 10200 Highway 88, Jackson.
