Obituaries for January 30, 2008

Henry C. Biederman
- Robert N. Tewksbury
Robert Neal Tewksbury, 91, of Galt died Jan. 16, 2008 in a local convalescent hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on Dec. 22, 1916 and lived in southern California until a year ago.
He had retired as a machinist after 40 years and was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Tewksbury in 1981. Many remaining family members will miss him.
No services are planned at this time.

Edela M. Rahmoeller
Edela M. Rahmoeller, 88, of Ft. Pierce, Fla. (formerly of Galt) died on Jan. 18, 2008 in Ft. Pierce. She was born Edela M. Wessner on Nov. 3, 1919 in Anamoose, N.D., and had spent the past three years in Florida after living in Galt for 40 years.
Surviving are her son and wife, Robert and Janet Rahmoeller of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; grandchildren, Kristi and Jonathan Budworth of Penom Phen, Cambodia, SFC Michael Rahmoeller of Okinawa, Japan, Kari and Steve King of San Diego and great-grandchild Aspyn King; and sister, Ida Anderson of Savage, Mont.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 24 in Galt, with Pastor Loyd Henderson officiating. Ben Salas Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Jorge Esparza, Jr.
Jorge Esparza, Jr., 20, of Galt died Nov. 19, 2008 as a result of an auto accident in Stockton. He was born Sept. 23, 1987 in Paramount, Calif.
A resident of Galt for 15 years, Jorge was employed as a farm laborer and enjoyed soccer, fishing, playing pool, spending time with animals, horse racing, family gatherings and riding motorcycles.
Surviving are his parents, Jorge Esparza and Guillermina Esparza; sister, Jessica Esparza; grandmothers, Esther Anaya and Dolores Garcia; uncles, Jorge Anaya, Ramon Anaya and Rodolfo Anaya; aunts, Lucia Gonzales and Raquel Ramos; and aunts and uncles, Javier, Daniel, Eloisa, Ernestina, Rosario, Gloria, Carlos, Alejandro, Patricia, Ilene and Alicia.
Services were held Saturday at St. Christopher’s with committal following at Galt Cemetery. Ben Salas Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Henry C. Biederman
Henry Carl Biederman, 82, passed away on Jan. 25, 2008. He was born in Rupert, Idaho in 1925 and came to California with relatives at the age of eight due to a severe illness. His family soon followed, settling in Galt on a dairy.
He attended school in Galt and, after leaving school, went to work for Thornton Canning Co., which changed hands three times during his employment of 43 years before he retired in 1987. He had lived in Sacramento for the last several years.
Surviving him are his loving wife of 46 years, Isabel (Liz); three stepchildren, Linda Helmig of Elk Grove, Claudie Mollett of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dwight Weathers of Elk Grove; two brothers, Robert Biederman of Galt and Raymond Biederman of Sacramento.
Although Henry’s family and friends will mourn his passing, no services are planned at this time.
Donations may be made in his memory to Mercy Hospice.

Carmella L. Nicholson
Carmella L. Nicholson, 72, passed away on Jan. 24, 2008. She was born in New York and retired from the State of California after 25 years.
Surviving are her loving husband, John; baby sister, Darlene; two daughters, nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Rosary and Mass, open to family and friends, will be held at St. John’s ECC at 5751 Locust Ave., in Carmichael on Feb. 2 at 11 a.m.

Helen Kaiser
Helen Kaiser, 89, of Galt died Jan. 26, 2008 in Sacramento after a brief illness. She was born Helen Yorston on April 19, 1918 in New York, N.Y.
She had been a resident of this area for 25 years and had lived in New York City for 55 years and Los Angeles for nine years. She attended Julliard and was a concert violinist, Copacabana dancer in New York and an Arthur Murray dancer, an actress, a singer at heart, a real estate florist, and preschool assistant with NHDF in Galt. She loved to paint with watercolors, charcoals and pastels, and loved her family and her animals.
Helen was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret, father William, brother Bill and husband Carl.
Surviving are her daughter Carla and husband Steve Shreve of Galt; daughter Michele and husband Gerry Goff of Beverly Hills; son Jeff and daughter-in-law Keri Conaway, grandson David Kane, granddaughter Carin Shreve, granddaughter Carissa Cathey and husband Sean Cathey, all of Galt; granddaughter Jamie and husband Mike Galati of Las Vegas; great granddaughters Selah Joy Mclean and Kiera Hayden of Galt; brother Howard Yorston and wife Wanda of Houston, Texas; sister Rita Grant and husband Richard of Gillsville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews and many friends who loved her. Helen is unforgettable.
A party in Helen’s honor was held Jan. 29 at the home of Carla and Steve Shreve in Galt.
Ben Salas Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
