L. Marlene Mauffray Waltz
L. Marlene Mauffray Waltz went to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 4. She left from her home in Galt where she lived with her husband, Gary B. Waltz. Her passing was peaceful and followed many years of battling a heart condition which was discovered when she was just 18.
She is survived and will be missed greatly by her mother, Juanita L. Henry, of Oakdale, California, who was also her best friend.
She will be missed not only by her husband, but her children, Jerod Wayne Gledhill of Sedona, Az., and Erina Nicole Mauffray of Modesto; step-children Gary and Cristina Waltz; grandchildren, Cassidy Starflower Phoenix, and Audrey Nicole Talley; and by her sisters, Wanda Ledford of Merced, Sharon Butterworth of Sierra Vista, Az. and Lou Ann Henry of Russellville, Ark. Eight nieces, three nephews, three grandnieces, and two grandnephews also survive her.
Linda Marlene was preceded in death by her father, Marvin J. Henry, in June of this year; her husband Peter Mauffray in 2002; brother, Jeff, in 1998; and niece, Jeanette, in 2002.
Marlene, as her family called her, was a vibrant and loving person. She delighted in working with children as a teacher at Frank Sparks School in Winton from August 1988 to June of 1999, where she taught second, third and fourth grades.
She was a fighter, having finished the last year of her teaching career with the aid of a wheelchair after surviving a stroke in 1997. After retirement, she continued to use her love and compassion from personal experience to work with people on the Al-Anon Crisis Line and as a Hospice volunteer.
Her resting place will be at the Oaklawn Memorial Park at A Street and North Sierra Avenue in Oakdale, California. Graveside services will be held there on Saturday, Nov.10, 2007 at 10 a.m.
All of her family and friends are welcome to attend this memorial service. Marlene requested that no flowers be sent, but rather that donations be made to any Hospice as a remembrance. She will be remembered for her generosity and her love for the Savior. She loved well and was well loved.
