Richard L. Ayres
Richard Linn Ayres, 60, of Galt died Aug. 21, 2007 at home after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 19, 1947 in Longview, Wash.
Mr. Ayres was raised in Lodi but also lived in Kodiak, Alaska, Reno, Nev., and Fort Bragg, returning to Galt in 1997. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a commercial glazer and draftsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing motorcycles and trap shooting.
Surviving him are his mother, Nella Johnson of Sacramento; wife, Charnell A. Ayres of Galt; sons, Richard L. Ayres, Jr. of Rio Linda and Tyler Charles Ayres of Fort Bragg; daughter, Misty Blue Ayres of Fort Bragg; sisters, Vicki Meeks of Rio Linda, Janet Pilliard of Roseville and Deedie Cunningham of Rancho Cordova; grandchildren, Stevie and Rainy Blu Toller of Fort Bragg.
A chapel service was held Sunday, Aug. 26 at Ben Salas Funeral Home in Galt with Pastor Gene Wilburn officiating.
Bonnie J. Brooksher
Bonnie J. Brooksher of Galt, 81, passed away Aug. 22, 2007 in a Lodi hospital. She was born Feb. 19, 1926 in Lindsey, Okla., to Cliff and Bessie Attebery.
Mrs. Brooksher was the cook at the Pollardville Chicken Kitchen in Stockton for many years before retiring in 1984. Previously she worked as a dietician for Lodi Memorial Hospital for several years. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing bingo with friends and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will best be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, who will be dearly nmissed.
Surviving her are two sons, Freddie and Virgil Brooksher of Galt; daughter, Linda Knecht and son-in-law Mike of Galt; brother, Dave Attebery of Herald; sisters, Margie Nunn and Rose Pollard of Lodi; six grandchildren, Jeff and Bonnie Brooksher, Jason Knecht of Galt, Sheree Pierce of Medford, Ore., Eric Knecht of Rancho Cordova, Becky Knecht of Mountain View; and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Euel Brooksher, preceded her in death in 1973.
A chapel service was held Monday, Aug. 27 at Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment in the Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Delmar Miller
Delmar Miller, 69, of Galt passed away Aug. 24, 2007 in Galt. He was born on Jan. 20, 1938 in Linton, N.D., to August and Kathrine Miller. He formerly moved to Lodi in 1956 and made his final home in Galt in 1995.
Mr. Miller worked as a dental lab technician for T.P. Labs until his retirement. He was an avid bowler who belonged to the Senior League in Stockton on West Lane and the Match Club. He enjoyed science fiction and western movies, and most recently traveling. He was a member of Providence Reformed Church of Lodi.
Surviving him are his wife, Norma Miller of Galt; three sons, Timothy Del Miller of Lodi, Mykal Fury of Lodi and Ronald Don (Kimberley) Miller of Lodi; four grandchildren, Michael, Kelsey, Vanessa and Diane; four sisters, Hilda Miller of Spokane, Wash., Amanda Semenza of Stockton, Wilma (Ray) Weber of Lodi and Eleanor Maier of Lodi; three brothers, Calvin (Frieda) Miller of Lodi, Emil (Pauline) Miller of Lodi and August (Virginia) Miller of Acampo.
Two brothers, Edwin and Melvin Miller, preceded him in death.
Friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., when a chapel service will be held at Lodi Funeral Home. Committal will immediately follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances may be made in Mr. Miller’s name to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204-1953.

Dennis I. Bender
Dennis Ivan Bender, 51, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007. He was born June 21, 1956 in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School.
Dennis opened his own business, Arrow Rooter Drain Service, and took a lot of pride in serving his customers. In his free time, he loved to ride his Harley and play pool. He was a member of the Sons of California Motorcycle Club and served as sergeant-at-arms. All his family and friends will dearly miss Dennis.
Surviving him are his beloved daughter, Brittany Bender of Lodi; loving parents, Ivan and Lois Bender of Lodi; loving brother and sister and their spouses, David and Kim Bender, and Dianna and Bill Hiles, all of Lodi; three nieces and three nephews, Nicole and Bonnie Dyer, Jeff and Lesley Bender, Stacey Reich and Tim Bender; two great nephews, Justin Dyer and Daniel Bender; and all his brothers at the Sons of California.
Donations in his memory may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
A funeral service to celebrate Dennis’ life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 in the Evergreen Chapel of Cherokee Memorial Park at Highway 99 and East Harney Lane in Lodi.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way in Lodi.
