Juanita Knight
- Juanita Knight
Juanita T. Knight, 86, passed away Aug. 10, 2007. She was born on Dec. 14, 1920 in Austin, Texas and grew up on the family ranch in Enid, Okla., as one of eight children.
Juanita attended high school in Grants Pass, Ore., and a business college in Bakersfield. She married Lucian W. Knight on March 31, 1938 in Bakersfield. She worked as a switchboard operator in her early years, and as a medical technologist for most of her career, retiring from Enloe Hospital in Chico. She was a current member of the Mission Branch, Lodi Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, former member of Redding Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and Kern County Farm Bureau. Juanita loved the country life, her family, friends and critters.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Sizemore and husband Phil of Shingletown, and Ginger Appleton and husband Eliot of Galt; daughter-in-law, Rondi Knight of Orland; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband Lucian preceded her in death, as did her son, Jerry Leon Knight.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation, 999 S. Fairmont, Suite 105, Lodi, CA 95240; Hamilton City High School, Friends of Athletics, Hamilton City, Calif.; or the American Cancer Society.

Jose Gonzalez
Joe “Jose” Gonzalez, 84, of Galt passed away Aug. 16, 2007 in a Lodi hospital. He was born March 18, 1923 in Michoacan, Mexico to Jesus and Hilaria Gonzalez.
Jose owned and operated Joe’s Tomato Farm in the Thornton and Galt area for many years before working for Tri-Valley Canneries and later retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church and enjoyed taking care of his horses and cattle, dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving him are his wife, Catalina Gonzalez of Galt; sons, Jose (Dorothy) Gonzalez of Galt and Jesse (Marcie) Gonzalez of Lodi; daughters, Teresa (Reyes) Funentes of Stockton, Lucy (John) Mochizuki of Sacramento, Maria Gonzalez and Imelda (Javier) Ramirez of Lodi, and Shirley (Sal) Rocha of Galt; brothers, Maurilio, Rafael and Milton Gonzalez of Galt; sisters, Luz Gonzalez of Mexico and Maria Gonzalez of San Jose; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 26-27 from 12 to 8 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Lodi Funeral Home.
A church service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at the Galt-Arno District Cemetery.

Eleanor Rausser
Eleanor Rausser, 86, of Galt passed away Aug. 20, 2007 in Sacramento. She was born in Lodi on July 22, 1921.
As a Galt resident, Eleanor attended Oak View Elementary School and graduated from Galt High School, then married her high school sweetheart, Bruno Rausser.
Eleanor was a dedicated mother and grandmother who lived for her family and cherished family get-togethers. She was always known to have her home stocked with her family’s favorite foods and her famous pies when they would come (almost daily) to visit and hosted many “summers on the farm” for the entire family.
Not only was Eleanor commited to her family, but also to her community by serving as an inspirational leader.
She served as an Oak View School Board member for many years and was an original founder of the Oak View Parents Club. She also was past president of Galt High School PTA, member of the Emblem Club and Order of the Eastern Star, and an election polling volunteer.
Surviving her are daughters, Ronica Rosa of Sacramento and Romilda Nimmo of Galt; sons, Gary and Greg Rausser of Galt; grandchildren, Michael Rosa, Cynthia Rosa, Nick Nimmo, Neil Nimmo, Kim Laskowski, Todd Rausser, Tamera Van Houten, Tiffany Moffatt and Cory Rausser, and 16 great-grandchildren; plus sister, Grace (and husband Don) Archer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in the chapel of Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School Street in Lodi. Committal will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 23 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
