Obituaries for the week of May 23, 2007

- Jose Perez, Sr.
Jose Perez, Sr., 85, of Galt passed away in Sacramento on May 20, 2007. He was born on July 25, 1921 in Mexico and moved to Texas in 1950 for a brief time before coming to California and Sacramento County.
In 1973 he and his family moved to Galt. He was employed as a farming worker for many years and retired in 1984. He attended St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Galt and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren, as well as dancing and caring for his garden.
Surviving are his wife, Paula N. Perez of Galt; children, Augustin Perez of Galt, Lupe Perez of Galt, Rosa Gutierrez of Lodi, Jose Perez, Jr. of Galt, Sofia Sanchez of Elk Grove, Pedro Perez of Galt, Delfino A. Perez of Lodi, and Jose Luis Perez of Galt; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was one of 16 children in his family.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 6 p.m., at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, 950 S. Lincoln Way, Galt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 24, at 9 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Copsey officiating. Burial will follow in Galt Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23 from 12 to 4 p.m., at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, near Beckman Road, Lodi.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Danielle N. Carpenter
Danielle Nicole (Saulisberry) Carpenter, 30, died May 17, 2007 after a 22-month battle with cancer. She was born May 6, 1977 in Reno, Nev. She had lived for the past eight years in Sacramento.
Danielle attended schools in Carson City, Nev., before moving to Lodi in 1987. She graduated from Galt High School in 1995 and began working as a claims adjuster for a workers comp company in Sacramento.
Danielle quit her job to care full time for her two girls and assist her husband in establishing his construction business. She enjoyed gardening, going to the ocean, spending time with her family, and caring for her girls.
During her battle against cancer, she painted flowerpots with her own special designs and distributed them to family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Matt; daughters, Delaney and Kylie; twin brother, Aaron of Lodi; sister, Autumn Barkley of Sacramento; parents, Dan and Neva Saulisberry of Galt; mother-in-law, Carol Carpenter of Sacramento; grandparents, Maureen and Tom Wagoner of Carson City; grandparents, Doc and Karen Trivitt of Carson City; grandparents, Chuck and Jo Saulisberry of Dayton; two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Michael Marchi
Michael Marchi, 54, of Galt died May 20, 2007 after a short illness. He was born July 20, 1952 in Redwood City and came to the Galt area in 1990.
Mr. Marchi loved the 49ers and Giants, camping and boating, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Laura; children, Jacob, Lisa and jenny; brothers, Chris of Grass Valley and Tim Marchi; sisters, Suzanne Fresci of Grass Valley, Deanna Tanner of Woodside, Jeanine Luedemann of Galt; mother, Violet Marchi of Chicago Park; and grandchildren, Alexis and Steven Williams of Lodi.
Visitation is Thursday, May 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Ben Salas Funeral Home, 149 Fourth Street in Galt. Rosary is Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 S. Lincoln Way in Galt.
A Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 25 at St. Christopher’s with Father Copsey officiating. Committal will follow at Galt Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society or St. Christopher’s Catholic Church.
