Isabel K. Tracy
Isabel Kenefick Tracy (100) of Galt passed away at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento on April 18, 2007. She was born Isabel Aileen Kenefick on Sept. 8, 1906 at the family home, located near the intersection of Liberty and Kennefick roads.
Isabel was raised there, went to grammar school in Stockton and graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1924. Her early years were spent assisting her father in the day-to-day operations on the family ranch, which included kitchen and bookkeeping duties.
In 1928, Isabel met her husband-to-be at a dance while he was training at the Aviation School in Galt. Some years later, on Oct. 17, 1939, they were married at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacramento in Sacramento. They moved to Tule Lake and later to Klamath Falls, Ore., and in 1944 were blessed with their son, Raymond Thomas.
The Tracy family returned to California where Raymond worked as a postal carrier in Oakland and then in the late 1940s transferred to the Sacramento Army Depot where he was employed until his death 10 years later. In 1962, Isabel and Raymond Thomas returned to Galt where she has resided for the last 45 years.
Throughout her life, Isabel was devoted to her family and faith. She was a homemaker who lovingly cared for her family and home. She enjoyed countless hours of cooking, baking, working in her gardens and visiting with family and friends. A devoted wife and mother who was loved by family and friends, Isabel will truly be missed. May she rest in peace.
Isabel is survived by her son, Raymond Thomas Tracy and his wife Margaret of Stockton; granddaughter, Alice Tracy-Reuteler and her husband Andrew Reuteler of Burson; grandsons, Patrick Tracy of Stockton and Phillip Tracy and his wife Jennifer of Campo Seco; and three great-grandsons, Ryan, Justin and Austin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. April 25 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Galt, followed by committal at St. Joachim’s Cemetery in Lockeford.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home.
