Arturo R. Aguila
- Jimmie W. Turner
Jimmie Wayne Turner (77) of Lodi died April1 2, 2007. He was born on April 4, 1930 in Oklahoma and moved to California at a young age.
Mr. Turner worked at sugar mills and M&T Ranch in Walnut Grove for 26 years until his retirement. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, bingo, gardening, watching car racing and his animals.
Surviving him are his wife, Cindy Turner of Lodi; daughters, Freda Arreola of Texas, Patricia (Sadaqat) Ali, Kayla and Rose Turner, all of Lodi; sons, Lee Burns, Danny Edwards of Lodi; stepson, Claude (Nanci) Edwards of Texas; sisters, Lavada “Sissy” Forrester of Lodi, Alma “Peggy” Wilson of Oklahoma; brothers, Tommy Turner of Lodi and Ulice “Toppy” (Karen) Turner of Woodbridge; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his loving parents; one son, Daryl Turner; and one daughter, Victoria (Vicky) Fair.
Friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 8 a.m. until noon at Lodi Funeral Home.
A graveside service at Galt-Arno Cemetery will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.

Arturo R. Aguila
Arturo R. Aguila (51) of Elk Grove, and former resident of Lodi, passed away April 14, 2007 in a Sacramento hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1955 in Tijuana B.C., Mexico to Manuel and Rosa Aguila.
Art owned and operated Accurate & Reliable Trucking Co. in Elk Grove for the past two years. He previously worked for Flash Trucking Co. in Modesto. Mr. Aguila was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Grove and was a former member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lodi.
He was an avid reader and had a talent for repairing electronic equipment. He also enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and working on big rig trucks. He will best be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and true friend who will be greatly missed.
Surviving him are his loving wife of 15 years, Sharmila Aguila of Elk Grove; two sons, Zacariah and Javier Aguila of Elk Grove; two daughters, Marcela Aguila of Elk Grove and Christina Aguila of Lodi; four brothers, Ernesto Manuel Aguila of Woodbridge, Carlos Miguel and Jim Mark Aguila of Elk Grove, Gerardo Ramos of Galt; two sisters, Ramona Gonzalez of Woodbridge and Irma Ramos of Stockton; two grandchildren, Cristian and Jeremy Brown of Lodi.
His parents, Manuela and Rosa Aguila, and a brother, Ignacio R. Aguila preceded him in death.
A church service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Grove, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sacramento.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Lodi Funeral Home. A virtual register book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared.

George L. Meier
George Louis Meier (85), a long time resident of Galt, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on April 15, 2007. He was born June 8, 1921 in Lodi to Solomon and Mollie Meier. He attended and graduated from Galt High School with the class of 1941.
George worked as a ranch foreman for Joe Beckman Spenker Ranch in Lodi for 30 years. He previously operated a hay baling business, as well as ran a dairy out of his ranch during his youth. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Valley Men’s Club of Acampo.
George was an avid outdoorsman and a talented mechanical fabricator. He enjoyed working on his tractors, hunting, and spending time with family and friends, especially fellow ranchers. He will best be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, true friend, and will be greatly missed.
Surviving him are his loving wife, Eleanor Meier of Galt; two stepsons, Timothy Andres and wife Erin of Galt, Mitchell Andrew and wife Nancy of Lake Stevens, Wash.; two sisters, Rosalind Lind and Lorene Soderstrom, both of Carmichael; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, Quinlin and Tierney Andrew; four nephews, Michael and Patrick Meier, Doug and Jeff Soderstrom; five nieces, Tracy Wesselman, Cindy Meier, Mindy Kennedy, Janice and Patti Meier.
Three brothers preceded him in death, Marvin, Allen and Wilbur Meier.
A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20 at Lodi Funeral Home, followed by interment at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Lodi Funeral Home.

Truman O. Woodruff
Truman Owen Woodruff (81) passed away April 13, 2007 after a brief illness.
Truman grew up in Salt Lake City in a pioneer family. He was the great grandson of Wilford Woodruff, the fourth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and also the great grandson of Truman O. Angell, architect of the Salt Lake City Temple. He was the son of Wilford Owen Woodruff and Evelyn Ballif Woodruff.
Truman was a scholar and a gentleman. In spite of an interruption of his education to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from Harvard University and Oxford University in England. He also graduated summa cum laude from California Institute of Technology with a Ph.D. in physics. He was a Rhodes Scholar, a Howard Hughes, Fulbright, Dow Chemical and Sheldon traveling fellow.
Truman was a Professor Emeritus of Michigan State after a long career as professor and chairman of the Physics Department. He spoke six languages, and was a visiting professor at Scuola Normale Superiore, in Pisa, Italy. He was a fellow of the Am. Phys. Soc., and a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi.
Truman was married to Francesca Ambrosia Solaroli until her death in 1990. Two nephews, Paulo and Massimo of Rimini, Italy, survive him. At age 70, he married Patricia O’Keefe Vincent, of Galt. Although childless during his first marriage, he immediately acquired four stepchildren, the late Pamela Wilson of Galt, Suzanne Hohsfield of Galt, Jennifer Diamon of Ione and Joseph Vincent of Mission Viejo. Nine grandchildren, including his namesake Walker Truman Hohsfield, also survive him.
Also surviving are his family in Utah that includes his sister, Jacqueline Clements and brothers Serge Woodruff, and Wilford Bruce Woodruff. His brother, Nathan H. Woodruff, preceded him in death
In spite of his many awards, he was most proud in his later years when the Lodi Sentinel gave him a special award for his free tutoring of local students in science and math.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 20 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Galt.
Ben Salas Funeral Home is providing mortuary services. Burial will be Logan, Utah.
