A celebration of life for Stan Anderson will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Three Palms clubhouse, 604 Pringle Ave., at 1:30 p.m. All who knew him are welcome.
LaVose Ruth Watson
LaVose Ruth Watson passed away in Lodi on Jan. 2, 2007 at the age of 83. Mrs. Watson was born in Stanton, Iowa on March 22, 1923 to Ralph and Viola Lungren.
She grew up in Red Oak, Iowa and left to work at the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha, Neb., where the Enola Gay was being built. She met James A. Fulton and married on March 17, 1945. They moved to Chicago, Illinois where their daughter, Joan, was born in 1947. James Fulton died when Joan was 11 days old.
LaVose then returned to Nebraska where she met and married Jerry T. Watson on May 22, 1951. She lived in Omaha, working for Royal Globe Insurance until her retirement. She and Jerry retired to Galt in 1988 where Jerry was raised. LaVose enjoyed her grandchildren, volunteering at Lodi Hospital, participating in two Red Hat Societies, and eating lunch and visiting with her many close friends.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her daughter, Joan (John) Demgen of Reno; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Thomas) Flint of San Francisco, Megan (Scott) Smith of Silverthorne, Colo., and Elizabeth (Chip) Lyles of Reno.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Lodi. Committal is private, and there is no visitation. A reception will follow at the Heritage Park clubhouse in Galt, 700 Second Street.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Lodi Unit, 207 E. Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.

Robert W. Bates, Jr.
Robert W. Bates, Jr. (59), a resident of Galt, passed away suddenly Jan. 2, 2007 in Grand Junction, Colo. Bob was born Feb. 28, 1947 in Bishop. He graduated from Bishop Union High School and attended Bakersfield College and Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
Bob served in the United States Army as an air traffic controller in Germany and Viet Nam. He was the ranch manager of Simmons Kennedy Ranch in Herald and later owned Bob Bates Aggregates. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved the ranch way of life.
Besides being a wonderful husband and father, Bob was an accomplished horseman. He was a member of the Elks Woodbridge Lodge #131 and the Masons Woodbridge Lodge #1900.
Surviving him are his wife of 32 years, Meg Bates; sons, Wes Bates (Julie) of Salinas and Clay Bates of Elk Grove; mother, Lois Bates; sister, Linda Davito (Tony); and nephews, John Davito (Erika) and Steven Davito (Amy).
A memorial service for Bob will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at the Herald Fire Department Community Hall in Herald. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to Project RIDE, P.O. Box 159, Elk Grove, CA 95759-0159.
David L. Carr
David L. Carr, “Hard-Hearing Dave,” died in Galt on Jan. 7, 2007 at the age of 60.
He was a resident of the Sacramento/Galt area for 55 years and a native of Santa Barbara.
Surviving him are his wife of 12 years, Diane Carr of Galt; stepchildren, Lisa McCormick and Laurie Simunich; grandchildren, Samantha, Tiffany, Mike, Jr. and Zak; mother, Lois Carr; sisters, Susan Carr and Marilyn Aubucon.
Friends are welcome to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 4 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd., 916-686-1888. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being made by Galt Funeral Home.
