Alex Sheldon 2008 Gator of the Year

Alex Sheldon was awarded the 2008 Galt Gator of the Year award Thursday night by his Gators coaches at the Littleton Center.

The Galt Gators handed out team awards at their annual awards night on Thursday evening at the Littleton Center, and announced Alex Sheldon as the Gator of the Year.
Sheldon was chosen for meeting multiple requirements, including consistently attending practice and meets, and being a role model to teammates.
Gator head coach Kalah Westlynn acknowledged that Sheldon had planned to miss Thursday’s awards ceremony due to a family vacation.
However, Westlynn said that after she spoke with Sheldon, the Sheldon family postponed their vacation to be at the ceremony, where the 13 year-old was surprised with the Gator of the Year award.

Among the individual awards presented were most improved, coaches’ choice and high point swimmer awards.
Bella Lowe won the most improved award for the 9-10 girls, and David Gleason won the 9-10 boys most improved award.
Gianna Stellato won the 11-12 girls award and the 11-12 boys award went to Andy Ramos.

Connor Duffy won the 13-14 boys most improved award.
For the 15-18 division most improved winners, Kaitlyn Andrews won in the girls’ division and Teague Fordis won in the boys’ division.
The coaches’ choice winners for the six and under girls and boys were Natalia Calderon and Colton Smith.
The 7-8 girls and boys winners were Taylor Piatt and Zack Maxey and the 9-10 girls and boys winners were find out 9-10 girls winner and Mark Carey.
The 11-12 girls and boys coaches’ choice winners were Ellie Lowe and Ryan Southerland, the 13-14 girls and boys winners were Allison Finkes and Ricky Hegner and the 15-18 girls and boys winners were Kassie Lizama and Andrew Carey.
The six and under high points winners were Jessica McAllister and Joseph Lopez.
The 7-8 girls and boys winners were Malia Tuitavuki and Theodore Puc (check).
The 9-10 girls and boys high points winners were Alyssa Lindsey and Davis Uslan and the 11-12 girls and boys winners were Kelsey Smith and James Carey.
The winners for the 13-14 girls and boys were Kim Smith and Connor Duffy and the 15-18 girls and boys winners were Andie Moitoza and Chase Harvey.
Group awards were also awarded for participation, heat winners and championship finalists, and championship pins were handed out to the Gators, who won the Mother Lode Conference Championship on July 20 and went undefeated in their dual meet season.
