The Galt Warriors ended their season at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Friday evening, after two of their athletes came close to moving on to the state championships.
Alison Motor finished fourth in the women’s 1600 meter run with her time of 5:11.51, while Scott Tincup finished fourth in the men’s discus with his throw of 153.01.
Galt took its largest group to the section championships in recent years, according to Galt head coach Nathan Woods.
Athletes qualified for the section trials in 11 events, including both men’s and women’s divisions.
Friday’s windy weather was an unexpected condition for the Galt athletes, after experiencing sun during Thursday’s trials.
“I didn’t expect it to be so cold, we weren’t used to that,” Woods said after Galt’s last race of the day, the men’s 4x400 relay, concluded.
From the 11 events Galt participated in on Thursday, the Warriors moved on to the finals in seven events.
“Still, the kids did extremely well. Scott Tincup and Alison took fourth, which were both PRS for them. I’m very proud of them for that,” Woods said.
Matt Reyes finished eighth in the men’s 300 intermediate hurdles with his time of 40.06.
The men’s 4x400 relay team of Kaio Doxey, Randy Houtaling, Matt Reyes and Jason Coupe finished ninth with its time of 3:26.33, while Josh Evans finished 12th in the 1600 meter run with his time of 4:27.26.
Lauren Petersen finished ninth in the 3200 meter run with her time of 11:29.87.
“Meets, when they’re back-to-back, it’s really hard and it’s exhausting on the body, but they did it. It’s the most we’ve ever taken to sections and I’m really proud of them for making it this far,” Woods said.
