Freshmen/sophomore boys track are SVC Champions

The Galt Warriors JV boys track and field program earned a perfect score Friday en route to winning the 2008 Sierra Valley Conference Championships in Rancho Cordova.
The Warriors defeated Christian Brothers, Ponderosa, Vista del Lago, Oak Ridge, Cordova and Union Mine high schools to earn six points at the championships.
Those points were then added to their season total of six points, which were earned during dual meets, for a total score of 12 points.
Christian Brothers finished second with 10 points and Oak Ridge and Vista del Lago tied for third place with six points each.
“The JV boys did extremely well,” Galt head coach Nathan Woods said Friday at the meet.
“We took a lot of firsts, a lot of personal records were made, we have a great future squad coming up,” Woods said.
Dominic Stellato won two individual events, finishing first in the 100 meter run at 11.54 and winning the 200 meter run at 23.95.
Javar Van Buren won the 110 high hurdles at 16.38, while the 4x400 relay team of Cameron Guerrero, Trenten Stoops, Oawster, and Elzie won with its time of 3:39.45.
Haran Piggee won the long jump at 21’6, Guerrero finished second at 19’10.75, Phillip Kelley finished third at 19’0.5, Van Buren finished fourth at 18’8 and Cody Klucznik finished sixth at 17’10.5.
In the discus, Andrew Manginelli finished third at 117’6.
Jerren Crisologo finished fourth in the 100 meter run at 11.72 and finished fourth in the 200 meter run at 24.42.
David Oawster finished third in the 400 meter finals with his time of 54.27, while Jordan Elzie was fourth at 54.59 and Trenten Stoops finished sixth at 55.43.
Abram Piggee, a sophomore, finished fourth in the 800 meter run at 2:08.58 and Bradly Brown finished eighth at 2:18.82.
Aric Codog finished second in the pole vault at 10’6 and Klucznik finished seventh at 9’6.
Haran Piggee finished fifth in the 100 meter run at 11.98 and Garren Halsey finished seventh at 12.13.
Piggee finished sixth in the 200 meter run at 24.66 and Oawster finished eighth at 24.86.
Brown finished seventh in the 1600 meter run at 5:02.60.
Halsey finished eighth in the 110 high hurdles at 22.82 and finished seventh in the 300 hurdles at 46.76.
Dominic Bland finished eighth in the 300 hurdles at 47.19.
The eight athletes in each event in the finals each had three attempts to get a score high or low enough to make the top four, which moved on to the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships.
“I’m very proud of them. They had a very good year,” Woods said of the JV boys.
