Man arrested for soliciting teen

Galt police had a tough time of it last week when a man suspected of soliciting a juvenile for sex acts resisted arrest.
Police were contacted just before 3 p.m. on Friday by a juvenile who reported that a tall, heavy, adult white man had asked the victim to participate in sex acts with him. The juvenile reported that when the offer was refused, the man then offered to pay for the act.
Police made contact with the suspect who, according to police, started to fight them upon approach.
“He resisted all the way,” said Galt Police Sergeant Craig Walton. “He was aggressive with the officers as soon as he saw them.”
Police arrested Galt resident Albert Hunter, 41. He was charged with molesting or annoying a child underage.
“In this case, the act was soliciting a juvenile,” said Walton.
Hunter was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail after being treated at Lodi Memorial Hospital for scrape injuries.
Walton said, as a first time offense, Hunter could get a maximum of up to five years in state prison, and if he has prior offenses, the maximum time in prison is up to 15 years.
Walton said the police were able to make contact with Hunter and make the arrest because the victim came forward and told police about the contact, even though nothing physical happened.
“This juvenile absolutely did the right thing. It is absolutely illegal to solicit sexual acts for money, anytime, from anyone,” said Walton. “But kids need to know it is illegal to even ask them to participate in sexual acts, or to offer to pay them, or buy them things to do so. They need to let adults know when it happens, even if the adult asking goes away politely when turned down.”
