Students look ahead to high school as New Hope bids farewell

Staff writer - Happy, confident faces stood out in the sea of purple, black and white at New Hope School’s promotion ceremony last Wednesday as the class of 2008 moved up one level in their education.
Twenty-three students celebrated their promotion, and listened to classmates and teachers talk about the next step in their lives.
Salutatorian Jonathan Arevalo started the speeches off with a short but sweet message to his classmates, followed by valedictorian Nathalie Pulido, who talked about being ready for Galt High School but also about her appreciation for New Hope.
Arevalo and Pulido both won a Board of Trustees Award, which was presented by New Hope School Board President Jane Springmeyer.
Wilson Ramirez won the Kleinfelder and Associates Science and Engineering Achievement award, which was presented by Theodore J. Oien, manager of construction materials testing.
After a class presentation made by students to New Hope staff, New Hope School board members presented long-awaited diplomas to students.
Joanne Oien and Raymond Dell’Olio both gave farewell speeches to their students, wishing them the best as they move on to high school, and the ceremony concluded with the recessional.
