After 12 years of working for other people, three years of searching for just the right location, and six months of construction through the rainy season, the doors of Galt Healthy Smile are open for business.
Amr M. Enaya, DDS opened Galt Healthy Smile in March.
Outfitted with the latest in dental technology, Enaya has created an office that is entirely paperless.
“In the long term, it’s easier, faster and better for the patients,” said Enaya. “I invested a lot in technology for this office.”
Gone are the file cabinets filled with manila file folders. Also gone are the harsh chemicals and hazardous waste that used to be necessary for developing patient x-rays. Those are replaced with a double screen computer system that allows the patient to see exactly what the dentist sees. As patients rest back and hear the prescribed dental plan, they look up at a flat screen TV that is in position just over their seat.
These screens are also used for educational DVDs that allow patients to thoroughly understand their treatment needs and procedures. Patients can also view personalized before and after photos before deciding on treatment plan. The dental chairs are also equipped with distilled water as opposed to using tap water to rinse.
The upgrade in technology also requires less radiation for x-rays. According to Enaya, patients will be exposed to half of the amount of radiation used with traditional x-ray machines.
As a special for new patients, the office is offering 50 percent off of its top-of-the-line whitening system called Sapphire. The treatment takes about half of the time of traditional dentist whitening treatments and causes less gum sensitivity than other treatment options. A take home bleaching kit is also available.
Greeting patients at the front desk, receptionist Brenda Chua handles everything from the scheduling to the insurance claims. Chua graduated from Galt High School in 2006.
Assisting with patients is dental assistant Kristy Wehner.
According to Wehner, the business has received a warm welcome from the community.
“We’ve got a very good response. The people here are really nice,” said Wehner.
After 12 years of working for other dentists, Enaya is thankful to have his own office.
“I got to the point where I wanted to start my own business. I tried to find a spot for three years,” said Enaya.
During those three years, Enaya hired consultants to help determine the right location.
“Galt is growing and we hope to grow with it,” said Enaya.
During construction, Enaya was frequently on site and had to spend many long days away from his family who live in Elk Grove. Enaya and his wife, Marwa, have been married five years and have two boys, Saif, 4, and Yaseen, 2. Now that the business is open, Enaya has settled into a schedule that balances family and work.
“We’re open on the weekends if that’s more convenient for people,” said Enaya.
Business hours are Tuesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For an appointment, call 744-9955.
