Come enjoy an old-fashioned country festival
21st annual Old Car Festival Sept. 28
-
On Sunday, Sept. 28, everyone will have an opportunity to enjoy a family outing at McFarland Living History Ranch.
There will be live entertainment, delicious food and beverages to enjoy, and raffles every half hour. The General Store will feature fresh produce, homemade jams, jellies, pickle relish and baked goods.
There will be souvenir shirts with the Galt car on them (yes, there really was one), Christmas ornaments, cookbooks and novelties. Once again this year, a Peddlers’ Lane with booths selling handcrafted items and other products will be available to visitors.
Best of all, there will be the beautiful old restored autos with their owners (some in costume) showing off these lovely historic samples of a simpler life and time in our nation.
The 21st annual Galt Old Car Festival, “A Day in the Country,” is sponsored by the Galt Area Historical Society and will be held at McFarland Living History Ranch at 8899 Orr Road, about three miles west of Galt.
Visitors will enjoy seeing wonderful old pre-World War II cars as well as experiencing a sense of open space on the great expanse of farmland that once was the 3,800-acre ranch of John McFarland, the man who named the city of Galt. Bring your camera for some great photos.
Vintage cars will be registered at 8 a.m., for a $15 fee. The festival will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The number for the door prize winner will be drawn at 2 p.m. Trophies for the cars will be awarded at 2:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults is $5, $2 for children, and free for children 5 and under with adults.
This year’s event is expected to be a great one. There’s plenty of parking space and a shaded picnic area with tables so visitors should be able to have a good time.
McFarland Ranch is easily reached from Highway 99 or I-5. Take Twin Cities Road to Christensen Road, go south to Orr Road and west (right) on Orr to the ranch (approximately two miles). Follow the signs.
