Almost 50 motorcycles gathered at New Hope Assembly on Saturday for a motorcycle rally to benefit Teen Challenge. Christian bikers from Roseville, Manteca, Antelope, Lodi, Galt, and as far as Redding attended.
Neighbors in Galt were treated to quite a sight as more than 70 riders and passengers all left the parking lot around 11 a.m., headed out on a 75-mile ride through the Mother Lode. Afterward, they gathered back at New Hope Assembly for some food, fellowship and fun.
Along with a fantastic barbecue, vendors such as Cafe Latte and Discount Leather were showing their wares. Face painting, two bands, including the band “User Friendly Radio,” and raffle prizes made the day complete.
“This church here in Galt has recognized the need for ministry outside their doors,” said Larry Rust. “People here have really stepped up to help others. Efforts here today will go to benefit the Teen Challenge men’s ranch in Keys.”
A highly regarded drug, alcohol, depression and anger treatment center with facilities throughout the United States, Teen Challenge focuses on faith-based intervention for young men and boys up to age 17.
“Teen Challenge is regarded as one of the most successful drug rehabilitation programs,” said New Hope Pastor Ross. “Along with rehabilitation, they help participants with jobs and job skills.”
Teen Challenge is a Christian-based organization, which started caring for troubled youth in New York City in 1958. The program has expanded into 300 autonomous locations in 50 counties worldwide, helping children, teens, men, women and families.
Located online, the Teen Challenge Web site states, “Teen Challenge strives to help the whole person, not just the substance abuser. At Teen Challenge, we offer students hope and the chance for a new life. We encourage them to apply faith-based solutions to life's problems, and we actively teach that a personal relationship with God is the primary means and source of power to change. We endeavor to help young people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.”
